Sawasdee from Mae Hong Son

We are now over halfway thru this outreach, seems like time has gone by quick. We arrived here not knowing where to go, but as always God was faithful to lead us!

The first few nights we stayed at a church. We didn't know till later, but Tom had actually worked there during his DTS for a couple of weeks.
The church needed some help with painting and cleaning-up in preparation for a believers camp they were going to have (this past monday-wednesday). We also realized later that we were in the place that God had prepared for us. Earlier, during intercession three weeks ago, one of our team members had gotten the word "klong", which means hand-made river. This church was right next to one!
Kim also got the opportunity to preach at their church service on the Sunday. It was her first time preaching, but God kept her nerves amazingly calm. It was a great time sharing about God's faithfulness.

From there we moved into a guesthouse, very simple, clean and cheap. Just what we wanted...ehh...umm...needed ;)
Every day we continue to seek what God has for us, and God has been doing some awesome things. One day we sat on the veranda ready to have a prayer meeting when two guys just came out of their rooms. We introduced ourselves and then we invited them to stay while we prayed. Surprisingly enough they actually stayed for the whole time. One of them, Hiro from Japan, later said that it was a great experience for him to see the way we prayed to God and he was interested in knowing more about this God of ours!
The other guy, Jun from LA, had told us earlier that he was not religious. But Shane spent a few hours with him answering his q's about God and got to give him "cliff notes" of the WHOLE Bible! At the start he had said he would read the Bible one day when he had time, but after the conversation he was ready to read it even sooner! :)
We invited him to stay with us if he comes to CR. We spend the next few days hanging with them alot... it was heaps of fun!

Last Tuesday we went out in groups of 3's into different parts of the city. Shane's group met a homeless lady, Ann, with her 10-month-old baby. They prayed with her, bought her lunch, got her a place to stay the night and organized for the social welfare to come and see her the next day.
They had accepted her before, but she had left not wanting to follow their rules. The big boss came and offered her another chance to come back, but after all our efforts she still wanted to stay on the streets. She has a mental illness and basically believes that she is meant to stay on the street with her baby.
It was a really hard thing to see someone who can have all the help they need reject it. Maybe we got to experience a little bit of how God feels when people reject his help.
We're still glad that we tried to help her. Proverbs 21:13 says "Those who shut their ears to the cries of the poor will be ignored in their own time of need".
Please be praying for her that she would change her mind.

It seems we don't always have to go looking for people to share Jesus with right this moments... God keeps sending people to us at the guest house where we're staying at :-) Still today we went to the hospital and a staff member there took us on a GUIDED TOUR to pray and talk to the sick there!

Below are a some photos from a worship time we had in the park >>

So pretty much things a going great and we will be back in Chiang Rai on Tuesday. Hope you are well! XOXO
